Someone once said "When you're up to your neck in alligators, it's hard to remember that the original aim was to drain the swamp." I don't remember any intention to drain the swamp but I have certainly been feeling like I've been up to my neck in alligators. So today, I put on my boots and tackled the job of clearing out the stream in our backyard. There is still more work to be done but I feel really good about having the water flowing freely again. It seems so apt to be getting things moving, literally. Perhaps it will help with the sale of the house - something that has been stagnant lately. And I like the idea of learning to "go with the flow". So it may be symbolic and it may be metaphorical or it may just be a nice little stream to look at. In any case, my muscles feel well-used and I am happy to see the little stream flowing again.
