Brave little bud

This brave little bud is on a Star magnolia bush, a very hardy shrub that is one of the first to bloom in the Spring. We still have a month or so of snow and cold before the graceful white blooms appear. But today, I thought I'd look closer at the bud before the magic begins. And I found these fascinating, furry little buds, with a charm all their own.
